Vehicle Electrification, the Future of Sustainable Earth Environment

Electric vehicles

(environmentally-friendly vehicles) means a shift from an internal combustion engine to an electric motor.
Some of the most widely known examples are the four types that include the hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), electric vehicles (EV), fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV).
What differentiates these vehicles is that it is the electric motors that take a leading or a supporting role in driving the vehicle, instead of a traditional internal combustion engine.
Also, these vehicles are characterized by their higher fuel efficiency and low CO₂ emission.
HEV Hybrid Electric Vehicle : No additional infrastructure needed. Exhaust gas emission down by 50% compared to internal combustion vehicles.
PHEV Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle : Longer range available in the electricity mode compared to HEVs, Exhaust gas emission down by 70~ 80% compared to internal combustion vehicles. Batteries should be recharged using external power sources.
EV Electric Vehicle : Zero pollutant emission. Low recharging cost. Very quiet, Infrastructure to recharge the vehicle battery is needed.
FCEV Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle : Zero pollutant emission. A remarkable range of 500km to 600km. Can use backup power sources, Expensive. Infrastructure to produce and recharge hydrogen needed.

Development of
environmentally-friendly
vehicles of all types

Hyundai Motor Group is preparing for a gradual shift from ICEs (Internal Combustion Engines) to ZEVs (Zero Emission Vehicles) in order to address the environmentally-friendly electric vehicles market that continues to grow. For this, the company will proceed with the expansion of the zero emission vehicles in the mid and long-term while trying to enhance the fuel efficiency of the existing internal combustion vehicles and developing and operating environmentally-friendly electric vehicles.
Also, Hyundai Motor Group plans to increase the number of environmentally-friendly electric vehicles models to 44 by 2025, which will cover the entire range of vehicle grades, from semi medium sized sedans to large SUVs and even to commercial vehicles. With this, the company will provide its customers with attractive products that address their needs.
